Hackett Construction Ltd. in 2015 took part in the popular Room to Improve TV show. The unique task was to renovate an old cottage to accommodate the needs of three generations. Dr. Pat Harold, his family, Dermot Bannon, Patricia Power and all the RTE production staff were a pleasure to work with which resulted in an memorable and enjoyable experience. Many obstacles were encountered throughout the project; concrete ring beam around the extension tied in to the existing house, tying the extension roof in with the existing roof, old flooring and poor insulation. Through our own past experience, the assistance of the architect and quantity surveyor, we were able to over come these to produce a final product that not only met but exceeded the owners expectations.

The existing cottage, built in the 1950′s, the style being very indicative of those times. It is amazing to see the high standard of old structures, knowing the same machinery and tools were not available to them.
